I have attached the partial log file below. Basically, I'm trying to take some .AVI's I have and burn them onto a DVD via NERO Vision so I can watch them on my DVD player. About halfway through the process it just ejects the DVD and gives me an error log file. Can someone decipher these for me?

    Nero is a bad encoder.
Nero is bad with DL media.

    The end. Sorry.

Encode in advance. Use a better burning software.

A forum search would have revealed all those. Find some post by Edmund Blackadder.

Ok, but before I abandon Nero so quickly I'd like to know if anyone can decipher this error log, maybe its something I'm doing wrong or a hardware incompatability issue?

Not that I can read the log, but it apparently failed at the layer break. Looking around the net, that seems a common failure point with burning DL discs.

You would have to study more about layer break burning problems to come up with a solution. Check the forums on http://club.cdfreaks.com for better info.

Try creating an iso with imgtool classic then burn it with imgburn. It may handle your layer break better (both freebies available here). Looks like you are using good media MKM (Mitsubishi Chemical). If it fails to handle the layer break with imageburn maybe your drive sucks. Good luck!

Only thing is that I have to encode the .avi's into MPEG and then burn. I tried another DL disk after I downloaded new firmware for my burner and still the same thing. Its pissing me off how many DL coasters I'm getting!

    You should read this thread:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=280113&highlight=dual+layer+burning+nero

    Your software version is:

    [17:16:01] DVDEngine ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 1:54:32 PM
You need to have version 3.1.0.x, I'd recommend the latest version for full compatibility.

    Good luck!
