So, I believe I have a singular problem. I Screen-capped (using camstudio) a work related webcast. During the testing phase before the capture, I tried all the codecs available, and found mpeg-4 v3 to have the fastest framerate and compression ratio. I jumped the framerate to 40, as that gave me the best input framerate (note that it compressed to avi)
Now I want to edit down and recompress the video. As we all know, Vdub doesn't play well with microsoft. So I can't use that.
Tried tpgmpeg. Video and colors got all screwed up.
Tried framerate hq. It crashed just like vdub.
tried vdub 1.3 on a rumor. It crashed.
Used Premiere Pro 1.5, but the video became choppy, and there are no good framerate converters for it I am aware of.
I think I've tried everything I have heard of. Anyone out there that can help?

Use another codec.
The last time I used CamStudio, I captured to Lagarith (lossless) codec. It was fast, the video quality was perfect and is easily editable in Virtualdub or Premiere.I stand up next a mountain and chop it down with the ledge of my hand........ I'm a Voodoo child.... Jimi Hendrix, -
Just tried it for future reference in case this comes up again.
Lagarith only gave me 12 fps input.
v3 gave me 19 to 20.
As this is a one time thing, max framerate is important (hence the reason I used v3 in the first place)
Also, lossless uses up a ton of hard drive space. When we are talking about 2 - 3 hours of capturing, I would prefer smaller file sizes.
Thanks for the input though.
Anyone on the existing problem? -
Another quick note. If I could, I would go back and use another codec. However, the damage is already done. The video was a one shot unfortunately. So I have no choice but to contend with the above problem.

I'm not familiar with the format you used, but I've never found anythng that AviSynth can't tackle.
