Hi there, very new to this game.

Have some small VOB files that I'm trying to transfer to the new Vid Ipod. I've managed to get the video across without much problem, but the audio is playing at 2 or 3 times the speed of the video. Please excuse my ignorance....probably an easy problem to solve but can any kind person help before i go mad.....

    Need the details, man.
What are you converting to? MPEG4 or H.264?
What are the Video and Audio settings?
What version of FFMPEGX are you using?
Also, what does the log say? (Click the blue "i" in the progress window after it has finished encoding.)
    We can't help you blind.

Hi there thanks for the quick reply.

Not at my main computer until Weds (UK). I'll try and get all the info together then. I'm trying to transfer to H.264 that much I'am certain.

    Thanks for helping me out.....

Hi there, sorry it took so long to get back to you. (Xmas and stuff..)

I'am trying to convert to H.264 using
    version ffmpegx v0.0.9 ur2.

Checked the Info box in the top right of the ffmpeg dialogue box and it comes down and tells me this about the file i'm trying to convert:

    Mpeg 2 Program Stream (Video/Audio)
    Muxrate : 10.08 Mbps
    Interlaced, chroma format: 4:2:0
    Size (720x576) 25.00 fps 7.50
    mpbs
    Audio : Mpeg 1 Layer 2
    320 kbps 32000hz
    Mono, Emphasis: 50/15 microsecs

This file is ripped from mac the ripper.

Now in the dialogue box on the bottom left it says about the file:

    Source Format : VOB
    Video : Mpeg-2 720x576, 7500 kbps, 25 fps
    Audio : ac3 48000Hz, 192 kbps

    The video codec is: H264 (,Mp4) (x264)
The audio codec is: AAC (MOV/MP4/3GP)

I really cant tell you what all this means, hope you can make sense of it..

As i've mentioned when i convert using audio track 0 it comes out fine but only with some of the soundtrack missing......tried all the others but it just is inaudible - the picture is ok though.

Hopefully this is enough to go on - anymore questions just ask...

    Cheers for now ......Dez.

(P.S I can paste the log in here if you want - maybe you can see where i'am going wrong from there)

Whoa. That's an odd one. It can't seem to decide if the audio is 48khz or 32khz.

Like you, I've been having issues encoding Audio from VOBs. I'm afriad we're going to have to wait for major to respond to this one, for I don't know why there is a descrepancy in the dtected sample-rate of the audio in your VOB. That seems to be the source of the problem, though.

Have you tried encoding the file using a different preset, like the XVID AVI (mencoder)?

Thanks for the reply, I'll let you know how I go on....

Well, Handbrake will rip directly from DVD to MP4, if you like.

Well what can i say ??????

Thank You a million times for recommending this program. It has ended weeks of frustration.

The files went down on to the Ipod first go, and great quality too...all the soundtrack is there as well. Why did I get ripped off by Mac for Quick Time Pro 7 when this was there all along ?

Cheers a million again (Thats 2 million times)
