I own the "original-issue" DVDs of Dr. No, Goldfinger, and From Russia with Love and can't rip the widescreen version. These are the discs which contain both the widescreen and P&S versions on the same side.
When I use Shrink and select the widescreen version (either in Re-Author or Full Disc), all I see is a green screen in the preview window. I burned a DVD as a test and it wouldn't play on any player or PC DVD drive. The PC drives would tell me there was an error.
Any ides on how I can backup the widescreen versions?

Rip the whole disk with DVD Decrypter and try to play the files with a software DVD player like PowerDVD

Yes, ripping the dvd is the first step I would say. I never had the idea that DVD Shrink would go around any protections in the 1st place?

That latest version of shrink can rip, although it is even further behind that DVD Decryptor when it comes to protection, and puts a lot more wear and tear on your burner. It is also slower than ripping to the HDD and processing from there.
