I used to backup my DVDs with the help of the excellent DVD Decrypter, but since it's death, it's been difficult to use it with the newest DVDs simply because it hasn't been updated. I remember I could even choose NONE for file splitting in order to import the VOB to DVD Architect to re-author the DVD the way I wanted.
DVD Fab Decrypter is an excellent tool too, but since there are 2 versions, the freeware one seems no to have this option. I was just wondering if there's any other software that lets you choose this " None File Splitting" as well as the other options that were available within DVD Decrypter. Thanks in advance.

No, it just creates a 1:1 unencrypted version on HDD. Run that thru good ole DVDDecrypter for further treatment.

I'm still looking for an answer - how to do it (to re-rip) with DVD Decrypter to wind up with just one VOB file.
    Merry Christmas, folks!

PGC.Net can create one large VOB file from files on the HD. PGC Demux can create separate m2v and audio files from files on your HD.
DVD Decrypter does not allow ripping from the HD. Smart Ripper will rip from the HD but it's old and probably won't handle newer disks, but since there on your HD,the copy protection should be removed and Smart Ripper might work.

Because a friend has sent me a DVD featuring his own movie (it has a new protection) and he wants me to encode it to MPEG4 (Xvid) for the web. That's why I don't want to split the files. I want to open the VOB with Vegas and have the job done!
    thanks in advance...
