Greetings all-
Just downloaded trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author..added my 3 tracks, created Main Menu and Chapter Menus (6chapters/track), then created the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files on my hard drive. Then used the included DVD burning tool.
Put the DVD into my Sony settop DVD player and the main menu pops up...I select track one and am taken to the chapter menu. Then when I push Play All, the audio plays, but I am stuck on the chapter menu for video-ie, I do not see any video.
If I play this DVD on my computer, it works just fine-ie when I press play from the Chapter menu both the video and audio play as expected.
FYI I used the setting Firstplay action as Display main menu.
Since this is my first time using TMPGEnc dvd author, I thought maybe I was missing a setting. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
CathyT

Sony players are notroious for being very picky about the media they will play back. What media did you use ? Have you used this media before ?
I would also try burning with a dedicated burning package instead of the built-in burner, if possible.Read my blog here.

Thanks, but I have about 50 other DVD's that play fine on the Sony from the same spindle. I even tried burning twice.
I have compared my DVD contents in Windows explorer with another similar DVD that play fine on the Sony - was created with Ulead DVD MF ver 2.
Unfortunately my Ulead DVD MF trial is expired and I was not suitably impressed enough to buy the app.
Anyway-
I noticed that the one that works right has only one "track" - not sure if that is the right term.
Plays correctly on Sony settop
VTS_01_1.VOB
thru
VTS_01_5.VOB
However TMPGEnc DVD Author's DVD has:
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_03_1.VOB
Not really familiar with why the structure is different. Maybe this is a clue.
Thanks

The first is a single titleset that spans several VOBs - a VOB being allowed to be no larger than 1000 MB. The second structure shows multiple titlesets that are shorter, where each titleset is smaller than 1000 MB and therefore fits within a single VOB. Both are quite valid structures, and both should play in your Sony. The difference with the second is that you need to have the links in the structure to tell the player to go from titleset to titleset, or it will return to the menu.

So I think that is my problem, but how do I fix it with TMPGEnc DVD Author? And why does it play ok on my PC?
Thanks!
