  1. I seemingly got nero recode 2 but when I open the program, it says the this program will take DVDs and turn them into Mpeg4. I don't want Mpeg4. I just want a program that will recode the DVDs so that I can play the copies on my standalone DVD player. Did I get the wrong version of software?

  2. Recode is like DVDShrink(same author) but it doesn't rip encrypted DVD's,you need DVDFab Decrypter to do that.

  3. Thank you for the screen shot.
My copy of Nero recode does not have the 3 extra options to recode to a dvd, only has the 2 options to recode to Nero digital (mpeg4). Is this because I don't have a DVD burner installed on the computer?

  4. I have another computer with only a CD burner and all the same options show up there. My Nero Recode came with the full Nero 6 Ultra Edition package.

  5. On the top of the software it says Nero Recode 2 CE. Could the "CE" refer to a more limited software, ie without the additional options that are shown on your screen shot?

    Yes

You need a DVD burner to activate the DVD burning functions. They will not show up on their own otherwise. I think you also need the full version of Nero Recode.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  7. Nero Recode CE is a version included in Nero Digital. Though it does share DVD recoding abilities, the full version is included in Nero Vision Express. Nero Digital was originally a free download that allowed a 30 day triall before expecting people to upgrade.

Like Vision Express, if the programme doesnt detect a DVD Rom drive or burner, it won't give any DVD options. Plus, it must also have the DVD-Video plug-in for MPEG-2 encoding/decoding.
