no subtitle after decoding with Quicktime

I tried to burn a subtitle (.srt) when decoding with Quicktime, but the sub won't appear. And when i try the same file with Mplayer i'm getting an error message after 473mb of 1gb after decoding, but the sub title is playing. Can i burn a subtitle with Quicktime or do i really have to use Mplayer?

It depends from the destination format. If it is DVD, then you can only burn subtitles with mplayer, or you can add the subtitle as a selectable subtitle (see the guide in the ffmpegX site).
