I'm having a problem converting MKV to AVI format. Is it possible that MKV is write-protected or conversion protected? I've tried DvdSanta, WinAVI, TMPGeng or whatever the hell it is, and Virtualdubmod. If someone could tell me if iti possible for fansubbers to encode MKV to be protected against conversion it would be helpful.

    Thanks/

No, doubt it can be copy protected. Try one of these guides, not random apps!

Yeah I've tried all those guides, and nothing works, When I convert something out of virtualdubmod, the audioless Avi file is corrupted. DVDsanta won't even load the MKV, Divxtodvd trys to convert but just loops the same first frames indefinately.

Okay problem number 2. I get to converting the Audio into AC3, but I can't do that with any of hte tools that are given in the guides because the source audio in the MKV file is ACC. I tried the save as .wav feature is virtualdubmod, but unfortunately, anythign that program touches seems to turn to s***. The .wav file is corrupted as well. So, hell, I have a stream of the ACC source audio, is there a program that can help me get that into AC3?

    AAC, I presume?
Don't do audio conversions with VirtualDub. FAAD2 is the tool for AAC to wav decoding.

  7. You need graphedit. It will convert the aac to ac3 in a couple of minutes. Here is the guide I used:
