So this happened to me and you guys probably know whats up. I open an xvid encoded .avi file in QT, and the video plays fine, but there is no audio. So i continue on and try to make a DVD out of it, using Toast Titanium 7.

Same thing when I view the dvd...no audio.

Anybody know how to make this work properly in QT, or how to create a proper DVD out of it?

I don't use my Mac much for video work, but I suspect the Xvid audio may be MP3 VBR or even AC3 which can cause problems for MPEG encoders. There should be a Mac program to identify the Xvid audio format.

    Looks like AC3 audio.

For a DVD, can you encode just the video? Save out the audio from the Xvid as AC3 and put it back in when you author the DVD?

Updated QT AC3 decoder should help QuickTime and Toast read the audio.
