The AMD X64 CPUs run much cooler than the 32 bit Athlons. I have the regular X64, not the X2 and it runs about 26-28C maximum. My former Athlon ran at 36-40C. CPU heat will not likely be a problem.

If you buy a X64 CPU with the factory heatsink and fan, you usually get a 3 year warranty with it. Compared to the regular 1 year without. And most of the factory coolers are fairly quiet.

If instead you are asking whether you can use your old heatsink and cooler, no. They are an entirely different cooler. Not interchangeable.

I would get the CPU with the included cooler. It adds very little to the cost of the CPU and extends the warranty. If it's not enough (Which I doubt), you can always get a bigger one.

BTW, Your post would be a lot more legible and get more reads if you used a little punctuation.

Yes, thanks for the edit, it does make it easier to read.

I'm not sure how much you know about AMD X64 computers, so I thought I might add some info (And opinion. ), just in case.

Most X64 motherboards use PCI-E video cards. No AGP.

I run the XP64 OS on my profiled computer. I'm not a big fan of the OS so far. Drivers were scarce when I installed it. It's getting better. Most OS 32 programs run on it, a few don't. It will get better.

The XP64 OS can handle large RAM sizes over 2 GBs, and use them, much better than XP32 does.

With video editing you can't have too many large hard drives. They don't need to be ultra fast, but large is good.

I think you already know about the power supply issues with X64 CPUs and PCI-E cards. ~500W is good, more if you have a lot of drives.

I would also recommend a motherboard with the Nvidia chipset. They seem to have the best setup for the X64 CPU at present.

I hope that helps a little. Any more questions, feel free to ask.
