Okay, for all the gory details, begin at the bottom and work your way up. This is a blow-by-blow of my correspondence with ArcSoft support when ShowBiz stopped working on me the first time. Unfortunately, this was over two years ago and I didn't save the DLL file Sam sent me - yes, I have nobody to blame but myself. I've tried reinstalling and system restore and neither has worked so far. ArcSoft isn't currently taking software support emails and I'd give my eye teeth for Sam's email address to try to get another copy of that DLL file he sent to me before. Does anybody have any idea, given the info below, which DLL file is messed up, where I can find a replacement and/or how to fix this problem? Help?
    Thanks,
    Jesse

    Hey Sam,
Sorry I didn't get back to you within 72 hours. The DLL file you sent
worked like a charm. My program is back up and running and I'm making DVD's
again. So, yes, my problem appears to be solved. Thanks so much for your
    help. I really appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Jesse

    Hello Jesse,

I have attached a ZIP file which contains a DLL file which should go into
the Showbiz DVD folder. Just copy and paste the file into the ShowBiz DVD
folder within the Program Files/ArcSoft. This will replace the current file
you have within that folder. I think the problem should be fixed after using the
attachment. But please let us know your results either way. Thank you.

    Tony,
Yes, I've tried using brand new Imation DVD+R/RW's and HP DVD+R/RW's (I
haven't used any DVD-R/RW's because the HP DVD300i writer I have supposedly
only writes to DVD+R/RW's). I've also tried previously used Imation
DVD+RW's and HP DVD+RW's that wrote successfully on previous uses.
Initially, I thought maybe I just bought a bad batch of Imation DVD blanks,
but so far I've gotten the failure message with everything I've tried to
write to. Thanks for continuing to work on this.
    Regards,
    Jesse

    Hello,

Have you tried using a brand new DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW? Does this happen
with any DVD blank you use?

    Thank you,

Are we any closer to an answer to my problem? Do you need more information? Do I need to resubmit my question? Let me know.
    Thanks,
    Jesse

I sent this response on May 10, 2003, and I haven't yet heard back. I just
wanted to find out if this was being worked on or if I need to resubmit it.
    Thanks,
    Jesse

    Tony,
Here are the answers to your questions.

1.) What are the steps you take to encounter your problem?
I open ShowBiz DVD, Design my project (step 1), add my media (step 2),
author my video (step 3), and attempt to produce - I get to step 4
(produce), hit 'start' and the program acts as if it is checking my disc
and then reports "Failure writing disc!"

2.) At what specific point do you get the error message?
I get to step 4 (produce), hit 'start' and the error message appears.

3.) Do you get the same results with the sample pictures/videos?
Yes. I've tried the sample pictures/videos and pictures/videos from a
variety of personal still and video cameras.

4.) Can you tell us where your videos/images are coming from(camera,
    internet, elsewhere)?
From the sample video/image file and from personal cameras (video and still,
    digital and analog).

Thanks, I'll be looking forward to your reply.

I used this product (Showbiz v1.3.4.31) successfully for about a month and now I'm getting a "Failure writing disc" error when I try to write a dvd. I'm using the same type of blank dvd (Imation DVD+RW), but when I try to "produce" a disc, the program begins checking the disc and gives me this error. I can write dvd's using another program (AverDVD's neoDVDstandard) which I've uninstalled (along with uninstalling Nero and all other CD and DVD writing programs) and afterward re-installed Showbiz with no success. I'm running the program on an HP Pavilion 503w in Windows XP and an Intel 1.7 GHz processor and an HP DVD300i writer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jesse

  3. Just saw your post from December. Did you resolve the issue.
I have a few versions of Arcsoft Showbiz on my PCs. Including 1. 3 2 37, an old version I guess.
What I 've done in the past is to open the ARCSOFT folder, in Programs, or wherever you have it, and click the "check update" icon, that connects, downloads updates etc. If you know which Dll, could acces for you, if I have it.
    Let me know.
