Hi Everyone.
My cousin gave me a copy of a VCD that he downloaded or something. Anyways, the VCD works on my computer with WIn-DVD, but when i try to play it on a VCD player, it shows, but you can't see anything. (THe screen keeps jumping), but there's sound. This also happened with a DVD decoder card to the TV.
Does anyone know what is wrong? By the way, i'm new around here. (Newbie section)
thanx. Rysk

rysk,
Yeah, it's a DivX, not a VCD!
DivX clips do not play in DVD's!!!
nor is DivX supported by ANY DVD maker! ! !
But, you could try and convert it to a VCD, but that will depend on
a number of factors:
1 - you're a newbie, you got a lot of reading, if you're willing to take
the heat!
2 - depending on the quality of the DivX file, you may not like what
you produce as a VCD. And no, B4 U ask, going higher, to say, SVCD
will NOT make it any better. But, wont hurt to try - right?
Well, you got your work cut out for ya!! He, he. ... ... ...
* Start with the the "WHAT IS" section in the blue to your left
* then, head over to "HOW TO" for Convert (avi,dv/DivX...to) then Author
That should get you started, K?
GOOD LUCK dude!

THanx for the replys guyz.
it is a vcd. figured out the problem though. for some reason, the vcd player has a problem between pal/ntsc formats, even though there is a setting which auto adjusts. i think that the disc is in ntsc format, and for some reason it doesn't play correctly when the vcd player is set to auto adjust. (something like that)
by the way vhelp and likwid8 maybe u guyz are the newbie? i don't wanna start anything, but c-prompt has a point.
