I have tried IFOedit on a DVDshrink ripped DVD and have the following question. The tutorial for IFOedit says that when cliking on "Create IFO" i should pick the first video vob. I thought that to be VIDEO_TS.vob, but this file was rejected and I had to select VTS_01_0.vob instead. I think i now have understand that this must be because that VIDEO_TS.vob is not a video file but a menue. But, when IfoEdit was finished, it had also created a VIDE_TS.ifo together with the VTS_01_0.ifo, and this I do not understand. Have you any shortform tutorials which will cleare up my minde a byte.

    Thanks in advance

What is it you are trying to do exactly?

umm ... yeah. What he said

The point of the "Create IFO" button in IFOEdit is to take one title and make a fully playable-on-insert movie-only DVD out of it. In order to do this, it needs not only to create VTS_01_0.IFO/BUP, but also VIDEO_TS.IFO/BUP since it is these latter two files that tell your DVD player to go straight to the main movie.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Hmm, I have no clue! I guess I wanted to create ifo from existing Vob files and then use some tools to burn it to a DVD±R disc like "Burn My Files" which have the option to burn the files in DVD file format or watever it is, (i.e. i can choose to burn files using diferent ISO standards, UDF and DVD file system) I dont expect "Burn My Files" to create ifo files when I only have the vob files aviable and thus needed some tools to create them for me like IFOedit.

There is quite many thing about the DVD file system I do not understand and the ... ah I youst remember, I have heard somewere that the VIDEO_TS.vob file is mostly info and copyright notices, not menues as I belived some houres ago, dont need that so i skip it. Never mind. However, while thinking a little byte aboute, MUST there always be a VIDEO_TS.vob in every VIDEO_TS directory anyway??? As far as I know and understand is that if i use IFOedit to create ifo files from exsisting vob files i can be able to burn DVDs by using "burn my files" in DVD mode. But I then run into another problem, the vob files i have is diverted into several chapters like VTS_01_nn.vob and VTS_02_nn.vob and so on. I was only able to create new ifo's for the first chapter, how come? When trying to create ifo, s for chapter 2 into the very same folder, it seems to work (i.e. IFOedit works) but no new ifo files is added to my directory, and I cant find them any other places either.

Then another question comes to my mind, if using dvd shrink or decrypter to rip a DVD with ifo files and BUP and burps, should I then be able to burn these files with success into DVD file format without needing to do some extra stuff with my backup? I mean the DVD ifo files ripped is intact and readable by a standalon livingroom dvd player, ayie?

Many questions you think?? Good, then you will not get bored,, and thanks for taking time to answer

    Regards
    Z
