Does anyone know of a free AVI to Flash SWF convertor program?

Flash 8 comes with a free flv converter. Does sorenson spark and on2's VP6. Then it is a simple matter of importing to flash if you want a swf file.

I don't have flash 8. I'm looking for a totally free stand alone application.

Well since it is a GUI for mencoder and ffmpeg it should be able to output flv's containing sorenson spark video since libavformat/codec support it. No VP6 though and not in a swf file.

Flash I think is available as a 30 day trial. Perhaps the converter isn't locked to the same time frame? Either way VP6 will give you better quality.

Yup, totally free sofware -- CamStudio 2.0. It got bought out by some big cheeses and the newest version ain't free, but ver. 2.0 is still available free of charge (for now!). It'll do avi to swf, though I'm not sure if there's a limit on file size; it's pretty decent, I use it for demo clips (like "how to set up your email account" instructions for our internal website) You can download a copy at:
