budz, yes I used the killaspi.bat file which came with Forceaspi 1.7 and 1.8. Used old 4.6 aspi layer and 4.7.x. NeroInfoTool verified ASPI Layer installed properly.
Can't update Nero 6.6.0.14, came with Burner because it is OEM. I do have Nero 6.6.0.13 Enterprise Edition, but that produced Coasters as well. Going re-install Enterpise Edition and update to 6.6.0.18 which is available.
Per above long-winded post. I flashed with 2 Benq BIOS's already using BQFlasher. What are these CVT Files and how are they different?
The re-installing Windows thing is out. I just did that and have now re-installed around 50 of my kids games. All previous testing described above was done on a clean system. You suggest it may be a Software Conflict, I agree, but cannot point the finger at Sonic. Nero which came with the drive when installed alone produced the same results. FYI - Used a resore point to make sure everthing was reomved from Registry after Sonic Install. Scanned System for any traces of Sonic's Burn Engine after uninstall and everything was removed properly. So the only thing left which could be conflicting would be device driver files, such as from new sound card, or Windows Update, or XP-SP-2, Media Player 10. Going to remove Media Player 10 and see what happens. Again, I was burng DL Media fine on a Loaded System up until about a month or two ago. Didn't mention this above, but I also tried with Windows IMAPI Service both on and off. I have it currently off. Will try DVDDecrypter later on one of my last 2 Verbatim's.
OneSickPup, interseting suggestion. But per above post, I already tried burning the Verbatims at 2.4x in Nero and Sonic MyDVD which does have a drop-down for burning Speed in the current version, and programs still produced coasters. Also Cyberlinks PowerDirector 5 which wasn't cheap.
Also, I already thought about doing what you said and out-putting to disc first, but it adds an extra step. Might as well use Memorex DL Media. It will be interseting to see what happens when Memorex comes out with Faster Media.
Again guys, I use the DL Media for Home Movies which I transfer from Analog Camcorder. Need something that creates Menus and Titles, blah, blah, blah. I'd rather do my data backup on Cheaper 4.7gb media anyway which works fine.
Thanks for all the suggestions

OK, I have another problem with this drive. Now I am able to burn DVD+R DLs (Verbatims) and I have used DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, and Alcohol 120% to burn and so far they all have the same problem. Sure, they all get through the burning process with no errors reported but they always skip on my DVD players. With DVD Decrypter, it at least played on the XBOX. Now the ones I burned with the other two only play on my home DVD player and they skip at the beginning of the movie (Pleasantville). On Empire Strikes Back, it skips about halfway through the movie. So 3 different programs and they all skip. What the heck is the problem?! I load the ISOs up on my computer and there is NO skip on the file, the writing process is where it all screws up. Anyone else have this problem? What do I do?

I've used the cvt files when flashing my BENQ 1620 & 1640 drives. I've never had any problems with it. I've mentioned you could flash your drive with the BSLB firmware first then flash it with BSMB. Firmware BSNB & BSOB creates better burns for DVD-R media. I flash my drives with different firmware depending on what brand of dvd media I'm using. -

are you using QSUITE 2.1? it's a tool that you can use to tweak your burns. it learns the write strategy on name brand dvd media as well as unknown media. i suggest you check out the BENQ FORUM at Cdfreaks.com for more info. and post your questions there as well. the members there can help you out. also you could flash your drive with BSLB cvt file first then flash it to BSMB cvt file. as mentioned check out the BENQ FORUM where you'll find more information.

Thought this may be of interest to those who offered me assistance in this thread. Just saw a Verbatim DVD+R DL's at Best Buy labeled for 8X in an orange box. Bought a five pack for the helluvit since I've spent over 3-times the cost of my Burner on coasters already. Guess what? The Official 8X's work perferctly. Checked and the Medai Code on these is MKM 003. The other Verbatims which my Sony 810A/Benq dw1640 spits out are media code MKM 001. Didn't know Verbatim was making official 8X dual layer Discs. Wish I did, would have saved me a pile of money. Still don't get it though. My Burner will work with the any of these DL Media types (FujiFilm/Memorex/Verbatim 8X mkm 003) but it dies on the Verbatim 6X regardless of burn speed. Not looking for help here, if you read through this post, you'll see I've tried everything to get the Verbatim MKM 001s to burn. This is really just a long winded FYI post.
Thanks All.
