  1. I am using a nVidia GFORCE MX 4000 display card having a SVIDEO output. When I connect the TV to SVIDEO output I can see the desktop on TV but when I play a video file in any software (WMP, DIVX player or NERO showtime) then I can only see the video on the MONITOR only while the software displays a black screen on the TV.

Check your video card settings in Control Panels>Display>Advanced. You should see some settings for 'Overlay'. That's the key for external displays for video players.

    Your problem is hardware acceleration.
Try this trick. Open a small video with Media Player Classic and minimize to the system tray. Now open the video you want to watch with Windows Media player.
You should now see it playing on your tv.
Hardware acceleration can only be applied to the first video playing and when you play the second it's software only.
Some people play with the settings but I don't like to keep adjusting that.

You can also set WMP under tools, options, performance, advanced and uncheck use overlay and use primary surface and possibly a few other settings but I found that sometimes the effect doesn't kick in until you play a few videos in different apps like it remembers the old setting for a while.
Anyway my method works well in a pinch. It also works when you want to do printscreen snapshots of videos also.

  4. Thanks to everybody for your suggestions but I have to say that I am still very confused as to what is happening and how do I resolve this problem. I want to know what should I do to watch my DIVX/mp4 movies on my TV using video out option.

    Thanks
