  1. Trying to convert DivX to VCD/SVCD (tried both). I usually dont't have any trouble converting movies but with this one the audio is about 1½ second early throughout the whole movie. I've tried all kinds of settings - I've used the .avi - audio, mp3 audio and uncompressed audio. I've tried resampling the audio, I've followed every step in the "HOW TO"'s - still nothing works!!!

Using TMPGEnc and VirtualDub - PLEASE HELP!!!

  2. Ok, here's what you do... If the file is out from the start of the movie, to the end, by exactly the same amount (ie: out of sync by 1 sec at start and end) then all you do is work out EXACTLY how much it's out by, and then save the audio as a WAV file using VirtualDub, open it in Goldwave or Soundforge, or another sound editor. If the audio is early, add "silence" to bring it back into sync. If it is delayed, "cut" that amount it's out to bring it back into sync.
Now the other scenario is this: If the audio STARTS ok, but goes progressively out of sync,(maybe because you're converting from NTSC to PAL), then you need to resample the audio. You do this by, again, extracting it, then open it in Soundforge. Use the "process > resample" option, and resample it to the new rate, then save the result with PCM setting. You work out the new rate as follows:
    (Old_Resample_Rate x New_FPS) / Old_FPS = New_Resample_Rate
    eg: (48000Hz x 25fps) / 23.976fps = 50050Hz
So you would resample the audio to 50050Hz and then either Multiplex (TMPGEnc) it with the CONVERTED Video file, or convert the video and use the new resampled audio as the seperate audio file.
NB: If you multiplex, you will need to convert the audio to MP3 format first.

    Hope this helps you....
