I am attempting to recode a movie in Nero recode 2 and the movie gets about halfway through the encoding process and fails with a message stating the system is "out of memory".

The system is freshly loaded with XP Pro and I am using a combination of AnyDVD and DVDDecrypter to rip the movie to ISO format before mounting the image with Daemon tools so that Nero Recode can reimage the disk to a 4.7GB size.

I have successfully remastered several movies using this method but the current movie I am attempting will not work.

Anyone else run into this problem?

The system has 1GB of memory (I tried different memory first thinking that may solve the problem but it did not) and a 3Ghz P4 processor.

  2. your file has error or a blank section in one of the VOB's. forexample if you copied your file from dvd to HD if some read error was thrown in it would do this. review your vob's see if there is a blank space there. I had a sony dvd-rom was used to throw read error and leave a blank area in one of the VOB's and would get the same error. I went to such extent to discover this. if you edit the blank out it will work ok.

If it's Madagascar, run all the files through vobblanker before you open them with Nero Recode, or else run fixvts on VTS_08_1.VOB. Fixvts should also automaticaly process 08_02 through _05 as well as VIDEO_TS.BUP, .IFO and VTS_08_0.BUP and .IFO. and create backups of the originals.
The fixvts data above only refers to Madagascar. If you're doing some other movie, just run vobblanker on the whole movie after you rip it with anydvd and dvddecrypter.

It's actually Brothers Grim. Madagascar worked fine for me.

I have ripped the disk with DVD FAB decrypter and am trying again to see if that makes a diff but if that fails I will try your recommendation.

    Thanks
    Ummm.. Yeah, what he said...
