  1. I use VSO DivX to DVD (I tried both the freeware version and the new one). I was trying to encode an avi, but both versions of DivX to DVD cause a sizeable delay in the audio. There is definite mismatch of about 8 seconds in the audio (can't remember if it lags or leads). Is there any way to fix this? Thank you in advance for any help you may have to offer.

    virtualdub,
    open avi
audio->full processing and the audio will be converted to wav audio
video->direct stream copy to copy the video
file->save avi and save as new avi and convert the new avi to dvd with divxtodvd.

if it wont work please tell us what audio codec that is used in the avi, use gspot, avicodec, etc.

also are you saving the newly encoded file to a different drive? Sometimes this resolves av sync issues.

  4. I tried using VirtualDub, as you say, and got the following error:

"VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing..."

I checked one of your guides, baldrick, and you'd said in that one that if this error came up, to use VirtualDub Freeze. I opened up VirtualDub Freeze and attemtped to do what you said, but it ended up having no sound. Here is the audio info from AVICodec:

    Audio : 142 MB, 130 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = Lame MP3, Supported

Could you please explain what kind of compression I should tell VirtualDub to use? Thanks in advance...
