Hi,
I just recently bought a insignia(IS-HTIB102731),dvd/receiver stero system..Ive been having problems with it playing my dvd-r backup movies. It plays originals fine. I looked in dvdplayer section looked like it was dvd-r compatible, but it wont play them right..I get skipping/freezing and some weird boxes(blue/redishish)type images..
The backups play fine in my other dvdplayers just not the Insignia? Could this just be media compatibility or player issues???
thnks

Media incompatibility. Or player incompatibility if you wish.
I mean - the media is incompatible with your player, and your player is incompatible with the media.
What does the manual say about playback of recordable DVDs?

I dont use any paper to label, just marker..
I looked at manual about compatibility of media..It says it plays: dvd/vcd/svcd/dvd-rw/dvd+rw/dvd-r/mp3/audio cd/cd-r/rw / jpeg/divx3,4,5/divx vod,mpeg4/kodak picture..
The only thing is it says, Improper formated disks will not play properly, and depending on the condition of recording equipment or disc themselves(mainly recordable discs),it may not play at all..
So, I'm not really sure whats goin on..Dont really wanna take back dvd player, but I have a decent amount of dvd-r movies/music etc..that probably now wont play unless I rehook up old dvd player...
Ive been using fujimi/memorex dvd-r's,if that helps? -
Take a look at the media code - fijimi and memorex are brands - who'r made the discs is anither story completely.
Then head over to http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm to see what LordSmyurf has to say about that media.
Even top notch media sometimes just isn't compatible with your hardware - try som other manufacturer, before taking the player back. Maybe, you "just" have to rewrite your collection on new media...
If possible, take a disc with you to the store, and play it in the player of your desire, next time it's time for buying a DVD player, before you cough up the dough!

Well,
I thought maybe the dvd player was not compatible with my backed up movies. Thats until I played Constantine,it had the same issues.Thats the only one so far, granted I havent watched alot of movies on the dvd receiver..I hate to take it all back(already threw away the box, silly me for trusting it work right),but it might be the best idea.....
