Unless your Creative Sound Card is a Audigy 2 ZS or a later model, it cannot decode DTS. You need to use a software decoder for DTS. Try PowerDVD or WinDVD. Some freeware alternatives are Media Player Classic and VLC Media Player which have their own codecs for decoding DTS.

You will need to use the deluxe version of PowerDVD for DTS playback. The standard version of PowerDVD does not come with DTS decoder.

As I mentioned, use MPC or VLC.

  5. i guess i am using a delux version, when i start powerdvd, i see dts logo with other logos.. i am using Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) sound card, now is that good enough. i am able to play dolby 5.1 with this. this soundcard is without SPDIF. now what seemes to be the problem i am totally confused.

    thnx for replying.

so are we...your posts are hard to read as they mush many thoughts to gether in one sentence.

If your sound card is indeed the ES1371, then it is a regular stereo soundcard, the PCI128. You have no 5.1 capabilities. The dvd software will play DD fine and according to the other posters it will play DTS but you won't really get the full benefit of DTS in stereo.
