    Samsung dvd reader
    Pioneer 106d burner 4x
    pioneer 110d burner 16x
    Nero 6.6.0.18

I am trying to do a direct "COPY CD" yet when i try it from a source it wont copy at 8x" It either wont let me choose a speed or it will say 8x and then only wrie at 4x and take the time a 4x disk would. Yet it says successful burn at 8x and my reader buffer is constantly 50% which worrys me.

It also has an error, it reads my samsung as my dvd 106 and my dvd 106 as my samsung.
So when i goto copy a dvd i have to stick it in my dvd 106 and select "samsung" on nero to copy and i think this may be a reason

Please reply asap and this is fast i will be more detailed l8a on ok. I have football now, thnx your my only hope. No one else knows...

Try deleting all of your drives in device manager and rebooting. Your OS will then reload all your drivers.

You can also try to rescan for drives (don't remember if this is an option in Nero), if not, uninstall and reinstall Nero.

Also, direct copies are sometimes slow...especially if both drives are on the same channel.

Based on your comments above, I expect you are attempting to copy a dvd. If you are expecting to be able to read and burn the disc at the same time at 8x, you are mistaken. The software may let you choose 8x or max speed, but the pc will not be able to read and transfer the data fast enough, especially if both drives are on the same IDE channel.

As for channels, you have to two IDE channels (primary and secondary), each channel supports two drives (primary and secondary).

To get the highest possible speed in data transfer across the bus, you need to be going from one channel to the other. Data transfer from drives on different channels is always faster than data transfers between two devices on the same channel.

Your best course of action is to copy/rip the disc to your HD, then burn the image.
