    Am I correct in the fact that you need to connect the i-link cable to PC in order to capture to WinDV instead of USB cable?

  2. iLink is Mac word for firewire, depending what you are capturing from if it has firewire and your computer has it use it, or USB2 .. these are almost the same depends which one your computer can work faster on. We have different speeds of firewire too depending on chip they used. between USB1 and firewire use firewire.

    actually, I.Link is the Sony word for firewire, it has nothing to do with Apple.

    Ilink (sony), firewire(mac) or 1394(generic, the name not the cable necessarily) are all the same.

    Very fe cams have USB2, you need to use firewire if you want a full qiuality transfer. The USB is for transferring still pics if your cam has that option or low qulaity video for example if you wanted to use as a web cam.

    "iLink" is re:Sony, "Firewire" is re:Apple, IEEE1394 is everybody else.
