How to hack Sony DVP-NS300?

Has anyone hacked a Region 1 Sony DVP-NS300 ? I have a one4all remote(URC-4021B00). I dont know if i am programming the macros correctly. what i did was...
1 - 189 2 - 255 3 - 095 4 - 221 5 - 079
1. hold set button until it blinks twice
2. press 994
3. press set
4. enter 3digit code from above
5. press button (1..5) where to program it
6. repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

Am i doing it correcly? how do the remote know which is the code(189) and which is the key(1)when i am programming it if i press them continuously? Is there any maximum length for the code so that i have to preceed the 189 with 0?
Do I leave the disk in the player or shd it be in standby when i do the macros???

In the manual that came with the remote they have asked to use 995 to macro program the power key so i tried this too..

1 - 189 2 - 255 3 - 095 4 - 221 5 - 079

2. press 995 (the remote blinks twice)
3. enter 1(where to program it)
4. enter code from above ( tried both as 189 and 0189)
5. hold set button until it blinks twice to record the macro
6. repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

I have runout of ideas can someone help?

ok... one basic question...when i am programming the macros for 1..5
1. Do i leave the disk in standby
2. Do i have it on with no disk
3. Do i have it on with disk?
