  1. I have this DVD buner installed on my computer. I am using Sonic digital media plus v7(which came with my Dell XPS computer). The problem I am having is that I am not able to burn faster, my current burning speed is less than 4x(takes like 20 min to burn 4 GB). My writer is 16x. How can I get my buner to burn at least 4x? Is there any firmware update for this? If so can someone help me to obtain one? Thanks in advance

Check out the NEC FORUM at Cdfreaks.com. If your drive is in DMA mode then it could be something wrong with the drive or how you flashed it. I don't own a NEC dvd burner. The NEC FORUM could help you out.

  7. You didn't mention what media you are using. Use something like DVDInfo to read the media code and let us know what it is. It could be your firmware only has a 2X write strategy for your media.
