  1. Hi Guys,

I have asked this question before but it was with avi and mpeg.

Does the new MP4 file (it is new to me) supports DD audio (means is it with 5.1 channels audio)?
Or is comes as regular audio (stereo)?
If so how to convert it to be burned on DVD and viewed by DVD Player??

It supports 5.1 audio, but not AC3 if that is what you mean.

Most DVD players don't support mp4.

    ????

AC3: Audio Codec 3. This was the original and more technical name for Dolby Digital. Replaced by marketing mavens when they realized that Dolby's name was not in the title. Some RF modulated, 5.1-encoded laser discs were labeled as AC3. Later versions were labeled as Dolby Digital.

Dolby Digital is the trademarked marketing name for Dolby Laboratories' "lossy" AC-3 codec. The common version contains 5.1 channels (five primary speakers and an LFE channel), but the format supports Mono and Stereo usages as well.

mp4 uses aac for multichannel audio. Dolby helped develope aac and it is digital.

That said mp4 can contain basically anything as a private stream so you could use AC3 if you really wanted. Just don't expect it to work with current players/tools.

Does your mp4 have 5.1 audio? If not then creating 5.1 sound is a completely seperate process since you would need to generate the additional channels.
