  1. I convert divx xvid to dvd's all the time and usually I don't have a problem. However sometimes i come across one in that the audio won't play proberly on a dvd or my media player. i.e. I load the avi into mainconcept or dvd2svcd and convert to dvd. It plays fine on my computer, but when played on a dvd player or media player, the audio sounds like it's in fast forward or like mice. I've tried reencoding the audio but that doesn't help. I've opened the audio with gspot and it looks exactly the same as others that do play. What is the deal? Why would it play on my computer but won't on a dvd player no matter what I convert it with?

You may try to change the dvd between Ntsc and pal to have a try.
Btw, you also can try other software to do the job (such as winavi video converter http://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm)

It sounds like 4.1 badly upsampled to 48. Try saving it out as uncompressed wav from virtualdub and loading this seperately as the audio track.
