ok i know how to burn SVCDs through TMPGEnc and all that. I've been able to burn movies with subtitles before with the program...
BUT lately after ive reformated, it hasnt worked. I use Ace Mega Codec pack for my codecs and TMPGEnc 2.5...
can someone tell me how to set up my stuff so TMPGEnc automatically detects the .srt subtitle files and encode it in with the final SVCD? thank you![]()
and oh yea. im new here.. so hi everyone!

Welcome to VideoHelp!
TMPGEnc can't detect nor use subtitles, and never could. You must have DirectVobSub (or ffdshow or similar filter) installed for that "trick" to work - note that the codec is adding the subtitles to the AVI before it's reaching TMPGEnc.
IMO, the best way to add permanent subs is with either VirtualDub or AviSynth, and frameserve to the encoder.
Also, Codec packs are mostly the safest way to ruin your computers video decoding capabilities. Avoid.

thanks for the welcome =]
yea thats what I meant with TMPGEnc. i would see the green arrow icon (which is directvobsub) go on before it actually even starts encoding. but now it doesnt anymore. Im just curious why it wont. and you said codec packs are the safest way to ruin my PC decoding capabilities?
what do u mean? please xplain and suggest an alternative? -
Obviously, the AVI isn't passing the VobSub filter for some reason. Try raising the DirectShow priority in TMPGEnc. Might help. Also, make sure the srt and avi have the same name.
Codec packs just flood your system with lots and lots of codecs. If your system is not a complete virging, it's bound to cause conflicts and whatnot. It's much harder to fix a system with "too many" codecs than the other way around.
The way to install codecs, is to play the AVI - if it won't play, use GSpot to find out what codec the AVI uses - and install latest version of that and only that codec.
Pretty soon, you have a system with the needed codecs and nothing else.

complete virgin? like freshly formatted? it was freshly formatted when i isntalled the codec pack

Yes. Well, then you should be fine, if the codec pack was created by someone who knows what he/she's doing!
Try rendering the subs "the real" way with VirtualDub/AviSynth.
