    Hello,

    I have this new issue:

I convert an HD movie from AVI to MOv with a size of 1280x720 (16/9). I encode it to the same size and it works fine. I get a 1280x720 movie.

Now I want to do the same with another AVI that is now 1280x544 (2.35 aspect). The settings are exactly the same (also trying to convert to move) except encoding size is of course 1280x544 to stick to the original size.

The result of the encoding is 544 pixels high but half of the expected width, so a movie that is squished vertically. I played with the different size presets, and then always type the exact 1280x544. The resulting size is sometimes different in function of the preset (even though the entered size is always the same) but I cannot get the same 1280x544 as the original.

    Any idea?

Here's the info window, showing the size as it should be, but that's not how it's coming out, played in QT7 or VLC (I interrupted it to check but a previous attempt over the whole movie showed the issue):

Could you load the file into Quicktime and bring up the info window (CMD-I) and tell us what it says? Movie Resolution v.s. Displayed Resolution, etc.

I'm curious if there is a "forced" aspect ratio in the source or resulting file.

I have 2 tries with different size presets (to see if it made a difference). While the size that is specified in the corresponding boxes was 1280x544 both times, the encoded films end up at 725x544 and 967x544. They are not cropped but squished horizontally. Normal size and current size are the same in Quicktime. On the summary page on ffmpegx (where you drop the original movie, both sides say 1280x544. The previous movie in 1280x720 remained identical.
