forgive me for being a newbie in DVD Authoring, this is actually the first time Ive tried authoring a DVD.
I've converted a DIVX movie and burned onto a DVD using TMPGenc DVD Author...the DVD plays fine on our regular DVD player but when I try to play it on my computer, it doesn't have an audio.....I'm using Media Player Classic...I'm pretty sure that it can play DVDs coz it works when I try to put in any DVD
could it be the audio codec? here's some information about the DVD:
video: 352x480, 60hz, 4:3
audio: LPCM 48000Hz, 16bits 2 channel(s)
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

An LPCM codec is native to the Win OS. You have other problems.
ICBM target coordinates:
26° 14' 10.16"N -- 80° 16' 0.91"W -
Do other DVDs, such as store bought ones, play correctly on your PC? Are you sure the audio is LPCM? This is VERY unusual and while it might be true, it is unusual. What did you use to identify the audio? Did you use Gspot? If not, use it and if it says your audio is AC3, install the AC3 filters from http://www.doom9.net (look in the Downloads section, then pick Full Software List). LPCM should play with no problem. Can you play audio CDs on your PC? If not, maybe something is not set up correctly with your soundcard.

hi.. ive been using premiere pro 1.5 and i authored a photo montage with music into a dvd using adobe media encoder within premire, but the audio once played on a dvd player is shocking and nothing like the quality played on my lap top. Admitedly the system specs of my lap top arent ideal for the requirements needed to run premiere pro 1.5 and now the programme isnt running properly as a result. but ill be getting a G4 mac in a couple of months and learning avid and final cut pro on it, but just so i can make sure its not something im doing,, is there something i should be doing with the audio before i author it??
many thanks -

Could it be the dvd software player that I'm using which is the Media Player Classic like LUMIS was saying? I'll try using a different software anyway like powerdvd, I'll let you all know what happens but I'm still puzzled....could it be the codec? I have AC3 filters installed as well -
Use Gspot, as I said earlier, and see if it REALLY is LPCM audio or not. It would really be helpful for you to be sure that your DVD really has LPCM audio instead of just assuming it does because that's what you remember doing.
Assuming you confirm LPCM audio, I suggest trying to find a music DVD to rent that contains LPCM audio and see if Media Player Classic barfs on it. I've never used MPC, so maybe it has a problem with WAV audio on DVD. Don't know. It should be no problem for PowerDVD. If PowerDVD plays it OK (you can download a demo I think that should play a few minuts of your DVD), then blame MPC. -

So I guess I'll just switch to PowerDVD, other formats plays fine too anyway but thanks for all the help...I learned something again
