Nero 7 Burning on XP-P, 1G ram
I have been having problems burning a CD that has:
Files: 157,250
Folders: 19,496
Size: 299,304,062 (285MB)
Size on Disk: about 610-620MB according to Nero
It fails with, "Cannot allocate background bitmap for screen buffering. Perhaps your system has not much memory. Screen buffering will be turned off."
So I thought I would try to create an ISO image and burn that, but no.....
it has its own error messages:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents is not accessible.
Not enough quota is available to process this command."
When I click past that and try to let it save to desktop, I get this message, "Cannot allocate background bitmap for screen buffering. Perhaps your system has not much memory. Screen buffering will be turned off."
That is also the same message I get when I try to directly build a CD.
The only thing I can think of is the large quantity of files (most are only 1K in size). I have also turned off all cache options in Nero, but that does not help either.
Is there no way to do this in one pass? I am going to try multi-session, but I have a feeling that will also fail.

Well, this is hopeless. Multisessions bomb out just as if I tried the whole thing at once.
Any ideas what is happening with Nero??

There used to be a file/folder limit which would cause most burning programs to choke....I can't remember the number...seems like it had to do with the creation of the FAT of the disc (I used to have a similar problem years ago burning CDR's). I can't seem to remember specific's or where I read about it.

Well, try something besides Nero? You might be violaiting the ISO 9660 File System limits, but that sure as hell shouldn't result in those kind of error reports!
I'm starting to sound like a spammer, but CD Burner XP Pro does all I can ask of a burner app, and does it for free.

For what it's worth, I would try another burning app as mats.hopberg suggested (even a 6.x version of Nero). I've seen quite a few strange problems with Nero 7 lately.

I think I'll never understand Nero. Every X.0.X.X is so full of bugs, the Pest Patrol would be busy for months. Then, when they are reaching version about X.6.X.X, things start to brighten up - not many more bugs than in your average cupboard. Which promptly makes them release (X+1).0.X.X and the history repeats itself.
And even stranger, everyone seems obliged to install each and every "update"/new version they release!

I agree, I've had very few issues with 6.x...especially with the latest patches...i see no need to upgrade in the near future.
