tmpgenc does not recognize xvid files (or all avis often)

i just downloaded XviD-1.0.3-20122004, which was suggested to me, but i dont know how to open the app/codec (??) after i ran it. but all my tmpgenc apps dont seem to recogniz most avis, and no xvid avis at all. it keeps saying that only the audio part can be opened.
thx for any help. Im game for other encoders but only ones with great encoding capabilities, not speed or all in one types. i used winavi for a while but it was horrible. atleast its "to dvd" function.

have you tried increase the directshow priority? if you are using the tmpgenc or tmpgenc plus.

or are you using tmpgenc xpress?

i prefer xpress and dvd source. both have same pproblem, source creator accepts avis a little more frequently

got tobe a setting. i use xpress all the time with divx and xvid avi's. try Baldricks sugestion

it's a video and audio problem, the link is mainly audio stuff. yell me more about these directshow settings and where i can find it please. thx!

If all else fails, load the AVI in VirtualDub, frameserve to TMPGEnc.
