Can VHS tapes have problems on them that are picked up when converting them to DV that don't show up when you just watch them on VCR/TV?
I have a tape that plays fine normally, but when I use Canopus ADVC 100 to convert and capture it, it sort of stutters and the final video is missing frames but Adobe Premiere doesn't say that frames were dropped while capturing. My Canopus ADVC 100 is working, this is the only video I've had a problem with.
I tried using other capture programs, same problem.
Any ideas?

Only on this one tape? Every other tape is good?

Right, only the one tape has the problem and only in a few parts of the tape. It is an old tape that is a copy of a copy of a copy...

Tough one. Best to take it to a dub house with a high end frame sync.

Here's something else that might shed some light.
The DV also has many sections that are very shakey but the VHS version isn't shakey at all. There is even a scene where the camera cuts back and forth between two actors having a conversation and the DV is only shakey during the shots of one of the actors.
I appreciate the help!
