sanyo drw1000 VHS -> DVD problem (do i need to finalize??

I just got a sanyo drw1000 and copied a VHS to a dvd, i played the DVD in the player fine, when I go to play the DVD elsewhere (even read it in my computer) it tells me that theres nothing on the dvd (not that its a blank)

do i need to finalize it?

can I finalize it wiht a pc program?

It will need to be finalized in the player that created it. It should be an option in the setup menu. I believe by default, the discs are not finalized.
