Your computer details say you have 512Mb memory, that's incorrect? Some of that memory is likely used for other processes. I doubt Pinnacle Studio really needs that much extra, though. If it runs properly anyway, I wouldn't worry about it.

  3. The fact is, almost all software has become bloated, or will become bloated after it goes through several versions. Programmers are not given much time to optimize code anymore. The products are always rushed out. I took some Visual Basic and C++ classes in college, and we were always told to optimize our programs the best we could. Teacher would get furious at us, for poorly written code.

The problem is, there is now tons of memory in systems, (512MB+) compared to what we had years ago (64k). Back then, programmers were forced to optimize. Now listen to this...I still have an old computer with 512k of memory. Someone came out with a 3D game for this computer. Similar to Castle Wolfenstein. This was unheard of, and thought impossible on this system. It even only has a 1MHz processor. If they can do something like this with limited memory, I don't understand the need for 1GB+ memory today. Especially for just Microsoft Word, and similar apps. Nothing but bloat.

If you have an on-board graphics chip, as opposed to a PCI-E or AGP board then you will be sacrificing a certain amount of memory (often 64mb) to this, and the OS won't get to see it.

  6. Disabling Windows' swapfile would cause that type of problem. Also if there's not enough room on the drive with the swapfile.
