playing divx

i recently bought 2 divx/dvd players.
if i burn my divx/xvid files to cd they play fine in the players.
if i burn them as data to a dvd-r(tdk-ritek-ridatek-slow) they periodicly pixelate (bad) every 5 min or so then come good.
they also seem to skip a frame here and there also./lose sync

does anyone know the cause of this
im wondering if its the audio causing it?

they play fine on the computer.

A number of DivX players will only play DivX/Xvid properly on CD.
