The Acer is equipped with bluetooth. You could also depending on the LAN/WAN you could attach either SD Wireless LAN Cards or an SD 56k Modem Card. The Acers are capable of using both. The HP might be picky about which ones(models) it supports.

Beware. The cards can be expensive and you need to purhcase separate dongle cords. Check to make sure all accessories are included. A dongle can add $20-$30 to the price.

If the router and card are on the same band (A,B,G,N), Yes it will work fine. Your friend and kids will also be able to use the PDA at any hotspot that supports that band.

  5. All Windows Mobile 2003+ Pocket PCs support SD WiFi cards so yes, you can use them. Since these only come in the "b" variety, there shouldn't be any compatibility problem.

HP Pocket PCs have no more difficulty using a SD WiFi card than any other brand of Pocket PC.

Be aware that low end PDAs tend to have relatively low amounts of internal memory and by using a SD WiFi card means that you cannot (simultaneously) be using a memory card.

I think that there are combo SD cards that have both memory and WiFi but for the cost, you might as well have bought a better equipped PDA to begin with.

Won't there be a compatibility issue if the router is a G or A?

  8. "A" yes.

"G" (which is backwards compatible) no.

The vast majority of people do not have an "A" router and even if they do, they are often dual band (i.e., A and B).

Most people I know have G but this is something that must be considered when looking to purchase WiFi Cards. I don't live in the UK. I purchase most equipment from US Companies.

you don't want cheap. When it comes to wireless you get what you pay for. I live in US and don't shop on UK sites.
