    I wouldn't buy a player that cost that much today. Perhaps a recorder with such capability but I don't even think I have any Real media.

    Don't like it's lossy format at all, so no I wouldn't buy one at any price.

    If it would play rmvb I might but I would need to see it before I buy. The variable framerate is what makes it interesting.
    What I don't like with rm is that applying more than a slight bit of noise reduction makes the faces look waxy.

    Overall I put it in a similar category as wmv.

    A multi format player/recorder that supports them all would be even better.

    I'd like to see a recorder that allows you via an SD Card or other input to add codecs to a machine allowing it to be end user updated to support newer formats and such. There'd have to be a option to restore factory settings though.
