I have already replaced a CD ROM with a new DVD ROM. So my PC now has one DVD ROM and one CD ROM. One DVD ROM can write and read DVD movie. Is it necessary to install second DVD ROM? Are two DVD ROMs better than one DVD ROM?

This would depend on your usage. If you are dubbing(copying) alot of DVD/CD media you may want to invest in another DVD Burner or ROM so as to avoid wear and tear on your single DVD drive. What do you plan to do?

I want to copy a DVD easier and faster. It seems two DVD ROMs are better because copy can be completed between two ROMs directly. Is it correct?

DVD-ROM does not write. Using the wrong tems will confuse.

DVD-ROM and DVD burner will POSSIBLY allow for on-the-fly burning. But your IDE setup must have them on opposite channels.

  5. With good DVD writers under $40. why not have two?
If one goes down you got backup. Some DVD/CD writers seem to do CD better. Shop around according to your needs.

I'm with you. Given that you only save $10 now getting a CD burner or DVD reader instead of a DVD burner, why get anything BUT those? Unless you're making high end CD audio masters for replication or something, then get the most overpriced Plextor CD only model and have at it.
