  1. I'm editing my own movie in Vegas 5, and have one audio track, and one video track. I want to cut out 30 seconds of audio and video, but then re-use some of the video elsewhere on the video track.

    But I can't figure out how to highlight a selection of audio, and copy it to either a separate track, or to the trimmer window.

    Hello iantresman;

    You can open either the video or the audio in the Trimmer. once there you simply drag the Selection Bar (located above the file, that yellow triangle on it's side !) to the desired length you like. Then place your cursor back to the TimeLine of the project where you want this newly trimmed file to be placed. Go back to the Trimmer and click on the (Add Media from Cursor A) Located just right of the Stop Button.

    Also to copy an Audio or Video file just right click on the file and select Copy. Then place the cursor somewhere on the timeline the has no file on it and again right click and select Insert Audio or Video Track. and then paste the copied file to the new respective track ie; audio to audio track only and video to video track only.
    Hope this helps
    let me know, I'll be glad to assist you.

  3. Gosh that was quick!

    Looking good, I wasn't right-clicking on the track. I've now been able to copy audio to a new track. Can I copy the copied track to the trimmer window, it won't let me paste into the trimmer, nor drag the track into the trimmer.

    There is an Open in trimmer option in one window, but it opens the entire videos there.

    Your right, the entire video track will be inserted into the Trimmer. For obvious reasons it needs to see the entire track in order for the user (you) to trim it.
