Is it possible to make a music disk from a compilation of mp3 songs I have downloaded from a P2P network?

  2. The new dvd2one can create a music dvd. Just be careful of the warz talk of p2p networks.
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it.

DVD2one is only available through a web download.
You may want to check your local stores for Toast7.
    Retailing for $80 CDN.

You can use any burning software which creates data DVDs to create an MP3 DVD. Since you downloaded these from P2P you may find the P2P has imposed license restrictions on if or how many times you may burn them though.

if it was downloaded p2p then there is no such restrictions. ROF is calling the RIAA as we speak.

did you read the big green and red text before you posted?

    Do NOT advocate warez.

Warez includes downloaded copyrighted movies, movies that are not yet released on VHS/DVD and copying rented movies.

    @greymalkin

Not all P2P transactions violate copyright including MP3 downloads.

  9. I tend to agree with ROF. I hope these aren't copyrighted.

  11. Royalty-free music. Linux. Shareware.

At least 0.1% of the time, anyway, that is true. Best to assume that people are operating under Fair Use, or else we'd be at each other's throats all the time.

Back to the topic at hand, then!

Why do some people have to bitch about a "violation" in a thread and report the thread/post? If you think something is questionable, report it and let the mods comment on it. Saves you from looking like a fool (as in this case).

Anyway, it depends on what type of "disc" you are creating. If DVD-Audio, see the response above. If an audio CD, most burning apps (nero, roxio, etc) will convert them for you. If an MP3 CD, just burn a data disc and load the files that way.

It's been awhile since I've made an audio compilation disc.

Do most DVD players still limit the amount of folders, amount of files, or folder depth?

a violation doesn't magically go away just because it is called out in the thread. after receiving feedback i decided to err on the side of 0.1% here.
99.9% is no fools bet. If i was in fact mistaken then it is of no consequence to you (except maybe getting you bent out of shape). If anyone should be
hacked at me it should be the person who started this thread, not a "casual observer" .

...If your dvd player supports mp3 dvd's then any program that burns the mp3's to a dvd as a data dvd will do. The DVD audio programs take your mp3's and translate them to AC3 which will make it more compatible with other players but will take a long time to encode all the files assuming you have enough to fill a dvd.

the best bet would be to try burning the mp3's as a dvd-rw and seeing if it works in the dvd player. if it does..that's all you need.

Is there a max amount of files a typical standalone DVD player will read?

    Howdy All,

I've read through some forums and havn't really found an answer to this issue I have. Not sure if I'm missing something here or if I'm just a dummy and doing something wrong here, but I can't seem to get any playback on my DVD player using the mp3 discs I've created. I'm using Nero 6 and the procedure seems pretty simple. Put in DVD, click make MP3 disc, add tracks and voila, burn........but the problem is when trying to play back on my DVD player....."say's cannot read disc" The player is supposed to playback MP3 tracks as it's stamped right on the panel??? I'm guessing that it'll only playback MP3's if burned onto a CD and not a DVD... Seeings I'm not having much luck with Nero can I just do this in my Ulead Video Studio 9 or is there some better freeware to use for this application. I'd just like to get all my MP3's onto 1 DVD for chrismas so I don't have to be chaning discs all the time. It would be nice to have 6 or so hours of music without a change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Max

I can't remember for sure.......but I think I tried that angle before, but it wouldn't hurt to try it again. So you've burned MP3's as a Data disc on DVD's? and it has worked? It seems as thought when plugging in DVD media it's looking for VOB file structure instead of MP3........ I know I can push it through VS9, but just thougt it might work in another fashion that doesn't take quite as much time.

    Cheers,
    Max

I used Vegas once to create an audio DVD. It converts all of the audio to AC3 and inserts a still image for the video section.

    Very time consuming.

Yeah I'm guessing it would take aorund 3 to 4 hrs to complete the whole thing in VS9. Which isn't really that bad considering 80% of the time is rendering out the project and creating the DVD folders.
