    Hi,

I have a series of .avi files that are reported to be xvid by Gspot. These files play well within Power DVD and Windows Media Player and the later reports that the video codec used to play them is “Nero Video Decoder”. So far so good, but when I want to use Adobe Premiere Element or Window Movie Maker on these files, it reports that the codecs for the files are not installed nor can they be found on the web. Gspot report that no video codecs are installed for these files but still report the presence of Nero Video Decoder and when I press Gspot’s Render button (which render with DirectShow), it is successful and report that the video decoder used is Nero ?

How come some application are able to use the Nero codec and some other’s don’t ?
How can I [re-]configure this Nero codec so ALL application knows that it can play xvid ?

I am thinking about installing the following pack, any recommendation ?
    Nero Mega Plugin Pack 1.0

Could be that the apps you are using aren't taking input via dshow or could be nero's dshow filters, depending on the version of Nero they don't always work outside of Nero's own apps.

You could always just install XviD. Includes dshow and VfW decoding.

Thanks celtic_druid, I have installed K-Like codec 265 and the problem is now fixed. Did not test extensively for interference with other codecs, but so far so good.

    Cheers !
