    Hey guys.
So at the last few concerts I have been to I have made some video footage on my phone. When played back the audio is very high and distorts, BUT if I lower the volume on the output (phone speaker) it sounds fine and I can hear it and whatnot. I was just wondering what steps I need to take to lower the actual encoded volume of the file?

I was also wondering if there is something I can do to remove some of the background noise/sounds that are in there.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

You could try Audacity. It's a freeware audio editor. Noise filtering can be difficult, depending on the type of noise, but you may be able to make some improvements.

I use Pristine Sounds to remove most tape hiss from some old cassettes I copied into my computer for burning to CD.

You simply sample a section of the file with no muisic to get the "noise" and then apply a filter to remove that noise from the file.

It also has other noise reduction techniques including a great noise filter for vinyl recordings - reduces rumble, surface clicks and pops etc

A functional demo is available from

    Good luck
