vcd playback on pioneer dv340

Hello,i have many divx movies witch i have converted to mpeg using virtual dub(had to use this as audio was 48000htz & tmpgenc showed error)dub encoded these to vey large files ie 1.6 gb..then i use tmpgenc to convert to mpeg which works,i use the option for meg1 vcd..ie 352x240,audio mpeg 1 layer2,29 fps and 224 bit audio.which i beleive is right.the end mpeg is then down to around 900meg.i then convert to vcd using nero 5.the vcd plays fine on any pc media player.but when used in stand alone they only play in black and white !!!!!have tried various menus on dvd but no change...but if i download an mpeg movie and burn to vcd i have no problems!! am i doing somthing wrong????please help...thanks Gashead
