This Sony all-in-one home theater will only play PAL or NTSC-M depending on where it's purchased. It won't play both. The player will not play burnt CDs or DVDs either.

My friend had one recently that we sold on my eBay account.

IFOedit will not convert NTSC to PAL or viceversa, i'm assuming you are talking about the "Patch" method voodoo at best!!
Sony players are notorious for NOT playing multi formats.
Although my older 5 disc SACD/DVD player does play dvd-r.

    Look here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDname=Sony+MHC-ZX70DVD&Submit=Search&Search=Sear...y=Name&hits=25

According to user reports, it plays burnt DVD's but doesn't seem to play different standards just as mentioned by ROF.
