    Hi,

I'm a newbie so please bear with me. I love VideoHelp, there are guides for everything here. Probably one for what I need but I'm not exactly sure what to search for. On to my question:

I am giving a presentation in class and I have a dvd that is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. In the classroom I have two options of showing this, 1) a tiny tv or 2) a computer hooked up to a projector. Unfortunately the computer does not have a dvd player and no special codecs installed and I don't think it would be a good idea to mess with school equpment, so for that reason I was hoping someone could explain to me or point me in the direction of a guide that will tell me how to take about minuts worth of consecutive video of a dvd I own and convert it to a general format so that I can burn it to a cd and run it on the computer to show on the projector in class. (btw I belive the machine is running win 2k, though some of them are running xp, if that matters?)

Sorry for the long question and thx in advance.

mpg 1 (and WMV) is the only codecs supported by "out-of-the-box" Windows.
Rip the DVD as one VOB. Load VOB in VirtualDubMod. Set start and end markers where you want them. Frameserve to TMPGEnc and encode to mpg1 @ a good bitrate (like 4-5000 kbps) @ full DVD resolution
Should be playable with Windows Media Player no prob.

Just leave the bbmpeg settings alone , but follow the rest of this guide .

My way involves freeware , simple and easy .
