I've been into digital photography for a few years now. I started with your basic point and shoot and gradually worked my way up. I've always wanted a nice Digital SLR camera, but felt they were too expensive.

This year they really dropped in price, so I started looking seriously. I read lot's of reviews and narrowed my choices to 3 cameras. The Nikon D50, the Cannon 350XT, and the Olympus E500. They are all under $1,000 US and all produce great picture. In the head to head tests I read, I liked the Olympus pictures the best and that's the one I bought. It came with 2 lenses, a 14-45 and a 40-150. I picked it up for $800 on sale and really love the picture quality.
