  1. Okay, I'll try to explain this the best I can.

I have a video, and during the video, I want to pause it in certain areas while an object (text in this case) moves onto the paused video. Once the object in on the video, I want the video to continue playing until it needs to be paused for another text.

Also, when the video pauses, I need the image to stay exactly where it is at.
Ex. If the video shows fruits, and I specifically want it to stop on an apple, I want to hold the picture of the apple while text is placed onto the apple, then I want the video to continue to the next fruit.

Can anyone with after effects knowledge help?

What I would do is determine the exact point where you want the pause to occur and cut yout clip in two at that point. Take a still image of the last frame of the first part.

Take this still image and place it on your timeline at the end of the first clip, stretch it over the desired time you need, then add the second part of the clip. Use an overlay for the text as required.

  3. Select your layer of video in After Effects and under the layers menu, select 'enable time-re mapping" There is not enough space (and I don't have the time) to explain how to use this function, hopefully you will understand it, otherwise, you can check out some of the AE forums over at creativecow and find an answer. Or you can find "I forget the full name" but a plug in made by the twixtor people to adjust speed. It will allow you to place key frames for speed control. (As will time remapping, twixtor is just easier) But you can place Ease In, Ease out and Bevel Controls on these key frames so you get that ever so nice looking Matrix effect.

Hope this points you in the right direction
