Hi,
My capture card is an ATI Wonder PRO and im using ATI multimedia Center 9.08 to watch TV and it works perfectly.
I have a couple of PAL VHS that contains family videos. I want to transfer them to pc as .avi files (or mpg but i prefer .avi).
I tried to convert them using ATI multimedia center. I tried setting it to all the PAL-B,D,H,I,M,N but they all gave me black and white picutres. What could the problem be? Is there a program you suggest me to use?
My VHS is multisystem, it accepts NTSC or PAL
I'm using RCA cables to connect VCR to PC.
I tried other NTSC cassettes and colors are showing so im only getting B&W with those PAL cassettes.
As far as I know, my father bought the video camera from the middle east if that helps to know which PAL are my cassettes.
please answer me ASAP as I may travel in 2 weeks and I want to do them before I travel as I want to bring them with me.
Thank you

Multi-system VCR's do not output a true signal....they produce what is called a quasi signal. A true converting VCR is about $500. I get the same exact result(B&W signal) from my multi format PAL vhs machine while trying to record/transfer an NTSC vhs tape to my NTSC Philips DVD recorder.
However my VHS machine that I have in America IS a true converting VCR and can switch outputs at will. Here is the one I own:

What's more important is what does your VCR output? If it is outputting PAL, then capture PAL. If it's outputting NTSC, then capture NTSC. Not sure what to do if you have something else (like quasi) except to try different NTSC and PAL modes.Originally Posted by ShadowX114
Also, not sure if your card is similar to my Hauppauge, but on mine the input is an S-video connector. If I intend to bring in composite, I have to use the included adapter (which is not a converter) and then tell software that I have composite. Otherwise, I get b/w image.
